The Role of Temple in Developing the Quality of Life for the Elderly: A case Study of Temple in Hua Khao Subdistrict, Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphanburi Province

This research study is a study of the role of temples in improving the quality of life of the elderly, A case study of temples in Hua Khao Subdistrict. Doem Bang Nang Buat District Suphanburi Province, The objectives of this research study are 1) to study the role of temples in Hua Khao Subdistrict. Doem Bang Nang Buat District Suphanburi Province, with operations to improve the quality of life of the elderly, 2) Study problems and obstacles in operations to develop the quality of life of the elderly at temples in Hua Khao sub-district. Doem Bang Nang Buat District SuphanBuri Province, and 3) to study and propose guidelines for improving the quality of life of the elderly, at temples in Hua Khao Subdistrict, Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphanburi Province.

In this research, the researcher used qualitative research. Data were collected through structured interviews along with studied document data. Use inductive analysis and present information by means of descriptive writing, So selecting specific groups There were 16 key informants/people representing 2 temples and the elderly who participated in temple activities.

The results of the study found that: 1. The role of temples in improving the quality of life of the elderly, a case study of temples in Hua Khao Subdistrict. Doem Bang Nang Buat District Suphanburi Province, There are 5 roles: 1.) The role of a religious propagator, In performing religious duties Conduct activities to promote the development of the quality of life of the elderly. 2.) The role of health promotion. There is a campaign to promote exercise among the elderly, Use the temple news tower to provide knowledge about health care, and caring for the elderly 3.) The role of career promotion, There is support in organizing training to promote careers for the elderly, and supporting the creation of community products using the wisdom of the elderly. 4.) The role of welfare education Scholarships are given to schools, and to borrow and use places to study and learn about creating careers from the wisdom of the elderly and 5.) The role of public welfare, There is work on restoring the monastery, By giving importance to accommodating the elderly and people with disabilities in participating in religious activities on important religious days, and important festivals Providing assistance to elderly people who are bedridden, stuck at home, and elderly people with low economic status in their families. 2. In terms of problems and obstacles in operations, it was found that there are coordination problems between the temple and the community in participating in activities Because of the workload of people in the community Including the elderly Therefore did not receive full cooperation in carrying out the activities of the temple. Lack of coordination from outside agencies Did not receive assistance from government agencies or other related parts. in distributing community products from the knowledge and wisdom of the elderly In creating careers that the temple has to work with, schools and communities. 3.) Propose operational guidelines for improving the quality of life of the elderly. There should be coordination and requesting cooperation from government agencies, or other related parts in exchanging knowledge to enhance careers, Using the wisdom of the elderly or local wisdom Push community products to be distributed widely, To create income for people in the community and the elderly which allows the elderly to realize their own worth.
