A Development of Mathematical Problem-Solving Abilities Students on Topic of Decimal Multiplication Using The Tolya and Team Game Tournament Technique for Grade 5 Student

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to improve the ability to solve mathematical word problems involving decimal multiplication among grade 5 students by having students with an average mathematical word problem process score of at least 70 percent and at least 70 percent of students who meet the criteria, and to study student satisfaction affecting the Polya and team game tournament techniques. The target groups used in this research include 19 students in grade 5, Lak Liam Wittayakom Community School, Lak Ngam Subdistrict, Namon District, Kalasin Province, who are studying in the first semester of the 2022 academic year. Tools used in the research include learning management plans, problem-solving abilities tests, and learning management satisfaction questionnaires. Statistics used to analyze the data include averages, percentages, standard deviations, and T-tests.

The results show that: 1. Students have the ability to solve math problems. Decimal multiplication using Polya's problem solving process in combination with the Competition Group (TGT) technique had an average score of 78.83 percent. 19 students, or 100% of the total number of students, which is higher than the specified threshold. 2. Students were most satisfied with Polya's problem-solving process combined with the overall Competition Group (TGT) technique.
