Project to Study and Develop Bags Made from the Khaeng of the Pla Thu in Samut Songkhram Province

Abstract

The objectives of this project are to study and develop bags made from the "Khaeng" (basket) of the "Pla Thu" (Tuna fish) in Samut Songkhram province, and to determine satisfaction in using the baskets made from the "Khaeng" of the "Pla Thu" in Samut Songkhram province. In this study, the researcher explored and analyzed data, then designed and developed bags made from the "Khaeng" of the "Pla Thu" in Samut Songkhram province, and used the manufacturing process to help design the product to have a unique shape and pattern, to be beautiful and suitable for use, and to increase the value of the material by transforming it into a more contemporary product. The researchers also studied the data from a group of people who were interested in weaving, aged between 27-37 years, with a sample size of 50 people.

       The results of this study indicated that most respondents had the opportunity to use the bags in their daily lives. There were three types of bags, with the most popular ones based on the questionnaire being the Crossbody Bag representing 25.21 percent, Shoulder Bag representing 22.69 percent, and Wrist Bag representing 21.85 percent. In terms of design, there was a strong emphasis on the aesthetics of the bags representing 27.27 percent.
