The ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างหัวโขนกับนักแสดงโขน

การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้มีความประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างหัวโขนกับนักแสดงด้วยการสังเคราะห์และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิด้านศิลปะการแสดงโขน และประสบการณ์ตรงกว่า 40 ปีของผู้วิจัย
การวิจัยพบว่าหัวโขนสัมพันธ์กับนักแสดงในเชิงปรัชญา ด้านกายภาพ จิตวิญญาณ และความศรัทธา เป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญของการแสดง มิใช่หน้ากากจำลองธรรมดา องค์ความรู้ใหม่นี้แบ่งความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างหัวโขนกับนักแสดงได้ ดังนี้
ด้านกายภาพ หัวโขนเป็นเสมือนหน้ากากที่นักแสดงสวมแสดง นักแสดงต้องปรับร่างกายให้สอดคล้องกับหัวโขน ที่มีวัสดุ ขนาด รูปร่าง และน้ำหนักที่ต่างกัน ซึ่งมีผลต่ออุณหภูมิ การมองเห็น การทรงตัว การเคลื่อนไหว และการหายใจ อันเป็นสิ่งที่นักแสดงอาจไม่เคยให้ความสำคัญ นักแสดงต้องใช้เวลาฝึกซ้อมสวมหัวโขนเพื่อความคุ้นชินก่อนแสดง
ด้านอารมณ์และจิตใจ หัวโขนเป็นสิ่งบังคับให้นักแสดงเพ่งจิตและแสดงอารมณ์ กิริยาท่าทางสื่อถึงความเป็นตัวละคร และการแสดงกิริยา ความรู้สึกต้องชัดเจน สอดคล้องกับหัวโขนที่สวม เพราะนักแสดงไม่สามารถสื่อสารด้วยการพูด ถ้าไม่ใส่อารมณ์ จิตวิญญาณตามหัวโขน จะเกิดความไม่สอดคล้องระหว่างหัวโขนกับกิริยาท่าทางและความรู้สึกของนักแสดง เช่น นักแสดงสวมหัวโขนอินทรชิต (ยักษ์หนุ่ม) แต่ท่าทางไม่คล่องแคล่วปราดเปรียว ผู้ชมจึงไม่ประทับใจ
ด้านความคิด หัวโขนเป็นศูนย์รวมความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ความเชื่อมั่นและศรัทธา นักแสดงเชื่อว่าหัวโขนเป็นที่สถิตของเหล่าครูอาจารย์แห่งนาฏยศาสตร์ ก่อนสวมหัวโขนจึงต้องแสดงความเคารพด้วยการไหว้ โดยเฉพาะหัวโขนเทพเจ้า ได้แก่ พระอิศวร พระนารายณ์ พระพรหม พระคเณศ พระพิราพ ฯลฯ เมื่อนักแสดงต้องสวมหัวโขนนี้จะเกิดความยำเกรงอำนาจความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ และมีการเตรียมตัวเป็นพิเศษเพื่อไม่ให้แสดงผิดพลาด
