The Oaths of SamingNakoninn

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the characteristics of Saming Nakoninn from the Lakhon Phanthang Rachathiraj and to analyze these characteristics as they conform to professional military oaths. All information was retrieved from textbooks, related documents, interviews, and observations. The results show that the characteristics of Saming Nakoninn conform to five professional military oaths, which were: 1) He had only one faithful love, as stated, “I pledge to honor women’s pride,” 2) He took responsibility for his own actions and preserved his master’s pride, as stated, “I pledge to respect and preserve the king’s majesty,” 3) He adhered to the soldier’s honor and prestige, as stated, “I pledge to adhere to the moralities of the profession,” 4) He was loyal to the king, as stated, “I pledge my life to preserve these oaths for the peace and freedom of the nation,” and 5) He kept his word, as stated, “I pledge my life to preserve these oaths.”
