An analysis of Brunei Darussalam Content Presentation in Thai daily newspapers

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the content concerning Brunei Darussalam presented in Thai daily newspapers in terms of quantity, content types, and directions of content in six main areas including (1) social and cultural aspects, (2) economics, trade, and investment, (3) international relations, (4) the king, the royal family members, and the political leaders, (5) sports, and (6) science, technology, medicine, and public health. This study employed a content analysis method on the content in four Thai daily newspapers, namely Thai Rath, Daily News, Matichon, and Bangkok BizNews, from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2018. The study findings reveal that during the mentioned period, the Brunei Darussalam content related to social and cultural aspects was presented the most, followed by economics, trade, and investment aspects and international relations aspects at the same proportion. Also, the directions of most content related the country’s social and cultural aspects were found as neutral.
