The Development of Thai Reading Comprehension exercises for Chinese students learning Thai as a Second Language

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to create and find out the effectiveness of reading comprehension exercises for Chinese students learning Thai as a Second Language; 2) to study the results of reading comprehension achievement of Chinese students learning Thai. Thai as a second language using skill practice The research results discovered that (1) Reading comprehension exercises for Chinese students learning Thai as a second language has an efficiency rate of 81.47/82.27, which meets the standard criteria of 80/80; (2) Achievement in reading comprehension employed the 5W1H technique with reading comprehension exercises. The results revealed that before using the reading comprehension exercises, the mean score was 17.59 (58.63 percent) and after using the reading comprehension exercises, the mean score was 24.68 (82.27 percent). The t-test was 10.96, which shows a statical significance at 0.01. Therefore, this might be assumed that the Chinese students would have higher achievement after studying than before studying.
