Cultural Perspectives of The Play of “Sca” in Thai Literature

Abstract

This article aims at analyzing cultural perspectives of the play of “sca” in Thai literature. Data were collected from Sanskrit literature in Thai version called “Maharabhat” (มหาภารตะ), Jataka literature called “Vidhura Jataka” (วิธุรชาดก) and Thai literature called “Khakikamklon” (กากีคำกลอน) and “Phranolkamluang” (พระนลคำหลวง). The findings revealed that the play of “sca” represented the image of ancient king, the observation of problem-gambling behaviors, and the symbol of Thai-Indian relationship.
