Abstract

The objective is to study the history, elements, performance styles, and the role of the golden deer in the Ramakien Khon performance. The research was conducted using a qualitative research process from literature review, interview of Thai classical dance expert, and inheritance of dance movements, performance video. The research results found that The role of Kwang appears in the Ramakien pantomime. Rama Tam Kwang set Maris transformed into a gold deer following the trick of Ravana. To entice Rama to go after the deer. It was an opportunity for Ravana to kidnap Sita and take her to Lanka. There are elements of the show: Chapters used in the show The actor is a small figure. Agile and suitable for the role The Piphat Mai Khaeng band plays for the performance. Consisting of singing songs and Na Phat songs. Dressed in the Buddha’s body and wearing a gold deer on his head. Display format It is a form of dancing that follows human characters and animals. Dance patterns included 1) the main moves from Pleng Cha, Pleng Rew, and master tune dance; 2) the moves with recital, natural imitation, long gnuang move applied from demon characters, standing and hitting move, leg keeping move, deer hand imitated move, body bending move, and fur licking move. Performance strategies included 1) preparation: study the roles and understand the character; 2) mood transfer strategies: facial, eye contact, and feeling expressions; 3) dance strategies: role accessibility, agility, conciseness, and gentleness.
