BUDDHIST EXPERIENCE IN RUSSIA: REFLECTING ON THE EVENTS OF THE RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN WAR IN 2022

Abstract

This article aimed to describe the history and development of Buddhism in Russia, using a study method from research papers, and writing an academic essay. The study was found that Buddhism in Russia had developed since the 17^th century as a Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism. forwarded from Mongolia It entered Siberia and was firmly established in different areas. In Russia, it is evident in states such as Buryatia, Tuva, and Kalmykia, with a population of over one million across the country. During the transition under rule Buddhism was affected under Soviet rule. with a communist form of government until the change in Buddhism was accepted as well as other forms of Buddhism such as Theravada Thai style, Mahayana Korean style. Lama Vajrayana had entered a movement in Russia, etc.
