DEMOCRACY AND ELECTIONS

Abstract

This article aimed to study democracy and the electoral process, conducted by study methods from related documents and research. The study found that Democracy is a form of government in which power is owned by the people, who can exercise their power either by themselves or through representatives elected to exercise control on their behalf. The factors contributing to democracy are the people's education level, Economic development, democratic personality, and stability of political institutions. Therefore, the development of government and administration requires that the people use their rights to choose representatives to act on their behalf at each level of government by being open to making decisions freely with honesty and fairness without influencing or forcing elections. The selected representative will perform administrative duties. Effective governance responds to the needs of the people with a policy that meets the intent and positively affects the people. People can benefit from the implementation of the policy. As a result, people have increased faith and adherence to democratic governance.
