BUDDHIST INTEGRATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE'S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION FOR DECISION-MAKING IN LOCAL ELECTIONS IN CHONBURI PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this paper are: 1. To study the general conditions of the development of political participation. 2. To study the factors affecting political participation, and 3. To present an integrated Buddhist model for developing people's political participation in local election decision-making in Chonburi Province. Quantitative Research Data were collected using a questionnaire from a sample of 400 people. Qualitative Research Collect data from 18 key informants using interviews. Analyse data with content-based analysis techniques

The results of the study found that 1. General conditions of the development of political participation of citizens for decision-making in local elections in Chonburi Province. The people value respect for the law, citizens' civil rights and duties, and the exercise of rights and responsibilities as provided in constitutional law. I was listening to the opinions or resolutions of the people 2. Political communication can predict the political participation of citizens in local election decision-making in Chonburi Province with statistical significance at the 0.01 level. 3. Integrated Buddhism for the development of political participation of citizens for decision-making in local elections in Chonburi Province by applying the principles of Buddhism, namely unity, shared responsibility, compliance with laws and regulations, respect for elders., those who should respect the granting of rights, freedom, equality, respect for people, communities, political organisations and support for good and moral people.
