PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY: THE ROLE OF THE THAI STATE IN MODERN SOCIETY

Abstract

This article was a study on “Public Responsibility: The Role of the Thai State in Modern Society”. The public responsibility of the state in modern society is an issue of great importance to the people as follows: 1. Economic Responsibility; The state plays an important role in creating an economic environment conducive to growth by implementing policies to promote business and create jobs, as well as structuring laws and maintaining competition to enable the market to operate efficiently. 2. Educational Responsibility; for education, all sectors are responsible for the state. The state must support access to quality education and create transparency in administration. Schools and teachers are responsible for developing the quality of teaching. 3. Public Health Responsibility; The Ministry of Public Health emphasizes improving health services to make them more accessible and reduce inequality by implementing important policies such as improving the 30-baht universal healthcare system, solving the drug problem, developing primary medical care, and promoting a healthy economy. 4. Environmental Responsibility; The government emphasizes environmental conservation by controlling pollution, promoting renewable energy, and managing natural resources to cope with the threat of climate change. 5. Transparency and Audit; The state should operate with transparency and auditability to build trust and prevent corruption. 6. The Role of Technology; Technology plays an important role in developing public services and efficiently collecting data. 7. International Responsibility; In the era of globalization, the state must be responsible to the world community, especially in terms of peace, assistance to developing countries, and solving climate problems. Foreign policies affect the economy and well-being of Thai people.
