A Case Study of Stucco Sculpture and Antiques in The Dvaravati Period Using Adobe Photoshop

Abstract

The purpose of this research was 1) to study the stucco sculptures of people from the Dvaravati period, 2) to make a comparison to those found in archaeological sites of the Dvaravati period in Thailand, and 3) to generate an innovative visual of the Dvaravati people’s facial features using Adobe Photoshop to be displayed in museums and Dvaravati learning centers. The study found that the stucco sculptures portraying people’s features in the Dvaravati period, which were found abundantly in Nakhon Pathom Ancient City, Khu Bua Ancient City, U-Thong Ancient City, and Thung Setthi Archaeological Site, could be divided into many categories.  Adobe Photoshop was used to develop the model of the heads.  Colors obtained from contemporary art and scholars’ assumptions were added to the work to enhance realism and clarity.
