Abstract

This research article aimed to study the need for online learning materials in preparation for the Test of Proficiency in Korean. The reason for conducting this research was due to an increasing number of people who wanted to take the test, creating a demand for further learning materials.  Data was collected via electronic questionnaires completed by 42 people who were either studying in Thailand, working in Thailand, or were living abroad. The sample population was classified by generations: 21 people from generation Y (age 22–41), and 21 people from Generation Z (21 years old).  The survey result revealed that more than 70% of the respondents from both groups had previously used online materials for preparation. Those who did not use online material either preferred reading books by themselves or could not find any suitable platform.  Most respondents from Generation Y expressed the need for mock online tests with automatic score calculation.  Respondents from Generation Z expressed the need for video clips featuring an instructor.
