PUBLIC POLICY ANALYSIS: MODERN METHODS AND TOOLS

Abstract

Objectives of this article were to study “Public Policy Analysis: Modern Methods and Tools”. The tools can help increase decision-making accuracy, enhance insight, increase efficiency and speed of analysis, support planning and simulation, and increase transparency and credibility of public policies. Public policy analysis is an important process in developing effective policies. Using modern methods and tools will help make the analysis more accurate and reliable. However, analysts should understand the advantages and limitations of each method and tool so that they can choose the one that is appropriate for the context of the policy that needs to be analyzed. The methods used for policy analysis may include both quantitative analysis, which is the use of statistical data to assess the impact of the policy, often using economic models and big data analysis to predict the results, and qualitative analysis, which focuses on surveying and understanding the experiences of stakeholders, using in-depth interviews and content analysis. By using modern tools to help in policy analysis, including big data analytics, simulation modeling, and the use of information technology, what is indispensable is policy evaluation, which is an important part of public policy analysis. There are various evaluation methods that can be chosen. However, modern methods and tools also have advantages and limitations, and modern tools such as Big Data and GIS allow for more detailed and diverse analyses. The quantitative analysis may not be able to explain all the complexities.  Data used in analysis may be inaccurate or incomplete. Using modern tools requires specialized knowledge and skills.
