Reading English words by giving children a spell and sound (Phonics) using skill exercises of students in grade 3

Abstract

          This research aims to Improve the skills of reading English words with spelling .Compare the phonics sounds of grade 3 students and determine the effectiveness of the English word reading exercises in Phonics research population is a Grade 3 student at Ban Wa Yai School Akat Amnuai District 15 students in Sakon Nakhon Province in the first semester of the academic year 2021. Because there are 80 percent of students in the whole class. Can't read aloud spellings, 12 people. The tools used for data collection are English word reading skill exercises with Phonic spelling, quantitative data analysis using percentage, mean, standard deviation.

         The results of the research can be summarized as follows.
          1. Achievement in reading aloud and spelling English words found that after high school than before school It has been shown that in pre-tests students can read aloud. Spelling an average of 1.7 points out of a full score of 5, representing 34.00 percent. There was a standard deviation of 0.46 and when taking the test after studying, the students were able to read aloud with an average of 4.2 points, representing 84.00 percent, with a standard deviation of 0.6. Known by using skill exercises and remedial tutorials. Students have better pronunciation and spelling skills.
          2. Practice exercises for reading aloud and spelling English words that the researcher created has the efficiency value according to the criteria E1/E2 80/80 percent which can be applied show that The effect of using the English reading and spelling skill exercises created by the researcher The efficiency values according to the criteria E1/E2 80/80 percent, that is, the ratio between the average percentage of the test scores at the end of the lesson. and the average percentage of Post-study test scores are 80.00/81.00.
