Guidelines for preventing and managing bullying of students with special needs in inclusive schools under the Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya

Abstract

     The objectives of this research were to : 1) study the current and desired states of preventing and managing bullying of students with special needs in inclusive schools under the Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya; 2) investigate the needs for promoting bullying prevention and management for students with special educational needs in inclusive schools under the Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya; and 3) propose guidelines for preventing and managing bullying of students with special needs in Inclusive schools: The sample consisted of 305 school administrators and teachers of the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Primary Education Service Area Office 2 in the 2024 academic year. The research instruments included a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.979 and a semi-structured interview form. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNI Modified), and content analysis through descriptive writing.

            The results of the research showed that: 1) The overall current and desired states of bullying prevention and management for students with special needs in inclusive schools were at a high and very high level, respectively. 2) The priority needs for bullying prevention and management, ranked in order of importance, were: (1) fostering a safe school culture; (2) providing accurate knowledge, understanding, and attitudes toward bullying; (3) establishing guidelines for addressing bullying incidents; (4) developing basic life skills to prevent bullying; (5) promoting collaboration with parents to prevent and address bullying; (6) building positive teacher–student relationships; (7) implementing effective classroom management; and (8) shaping positive staff attitudes toward bullying in schools. 3) The proposed guidelines for bullying prevention and management in inclusive schools for students with special educational needs comprised eight approaches, all of which were practical and applicable in their entirety.
