Abstract

A leader's core competencies are an important factor that will result in successful operations in an organization. This article therefore presents the core competencies that are necessary for leaders. which has been studied from many related textbooks, books, and articles and summarized into 11 main competencies for effective and efficient leadership as follows: 1) the competencies to manage efficiently and effectively; 2) the competencies to plan the operation of the entire system. 3) The competencies to make decisions appropriate to the situation. 4) The competencies to lead followers in the right direction. 5) The competencies to control the direction of operations according to goals 6) The competencies to motivate followers to follow willingly; 7) The competencies to develop themselves and followers appropriately with the context 8) The competencies to manage teams in accordance with the organization's plan 9) the competencies to communicate appropriately; 10) the competencies to manage conflict at all levels; and 11) the ethical competencies to set a good example for followers.
