SEMANTIC REPRESENTATION ON CAUSATIVE ACTIVITY PREDICATE OF TRANSITION VERB IN MALAY : ROLE AND REFERENCE GRAMMAR APPROACH

บทคัดย่อ

This paper discusses the analysis of causative activity predicate and logic structure resulting from activity verb in Malay. Logic Structure Analysis based on the approach Role and Reference Grammar (RRG) plays a vital role in give validity to the data obtained. Thus, causative activity predicate can be understand as cause for verbs form and describe new result. This study also describes that there are also not showed any ‘causing’ features for the prefix meN-kan, meN-i, -i and -kan toward causative activity predicate. Activity verb that been focused in this study is prefix meN- transition verb such as memberi, menyumbang, menderma, mengirim, menjual, membeli, mengepos, mencuri, merompak and meragut. By using the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP)’s corpus data, this study focus more on mainstream newspaper for instance Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian and Harian Metro.
