Abstract
This article is part of the thesis on A study of the reflection on the way of life roles and values that appeared in the Red Karen folk tales, Ban Puter, Mae Ku Sub-district, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. Master of Arts Thesis in Thai Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University. This study of the reflection on the way of life appeared in the Red Karen (called Karen Daeng in Thailand) folk tales about Ban Puter Mae Ku Sub- district Mae Sot District ,Tak Thailand. This time, the researcher has two purposes are 1) To collect stories and analyze reflections on the way of life of the Red Karen Ban Puter, Mae Ku Sub- district Mae Sot District, Tak Province, which are still told during the year 2017-2019 and 2) Red Karen folk at Ban Puter Mae Ku Subdistrict Mae Sot District, Tak
Province found that the reflections of the way of life appearing in the story can be divided into 5 areas: 1) The reflection of life that focus and on being dependent the nature and surroundings 2) Reflection on morality and ethics It is hidden by virtue that is the basic values of the Karen. 3) Reflection on behavior that is not accepted by society that will be compared through the character traits. 4) Reflections on beliefs which is related to the supernatural and 5) reflection how to control society.
The role of the Red Karen folk tales, Ban Puter, is divided into 6 areas are 1) the role of unity 2) the role of helping relieve emotional suppression and frustration of human beings 3) the role of moral and ethical instillation 4) Role in education 5) Role in entertainment and 6) Role in explaining the origin of people and the behavior of people in society.
The study of the Red Karen folk tales at Ban Puter also revealed that the tales were of value to the Karen society. It is divided into 3 areas are 1) entertainment value 2) wisdom value and 3) moral and ethical value from a way of life reflection roles and values was found in the Red Karen folk tales, Ban Puter Mae Ku Sub-district Mae Sot District, Tak Province. It was found that there was still a way of life that retained its own ethnic identity. In particular, it is a way of life that is tied to the forest and nature but when society changed rapidly, Red Karen Ban Puter had adapted to many aspects of the external culture, including dress. The introduction of technology in agriculture and the use of language and etc.
