HER ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCESS MAHA CHAKRI SIRINDHORN’S “MANI PLOI ROI SAENG”: AN ANALYSIS STUDY

This article aims to study the versifications, the aesthetics, and the concepts of poetry from
“Klan Saeng Klon Kan”, a chapter of “Mani Ploi Roi Saeng: A Collection of Writings by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn”, which were presented in a descriptive analysis.
Findings showed that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn used four types of versification: Klon, Kap, Khlong, and Chan. The aesthetics of the writing was divided into two aspects:
the use of words – word selection, word repetition, and diversion; and the use of figures of speech – simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, rhetorical question, and retort. The concepts of the writings were the philosophy of living a life; customs and traditions; the institutions of a nation, religion, and the King; society; nature; and education.
It was found that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn composed poetry with the use of versification compatible to its content. Moreover, the use of words and the use of figures of speech were the methods leading to the aesthetics of the poetry. Poetry is beautiful, creates emotions and feelings, renders images in the imagination, fosters understanding of the presented concepts, and offers benefits to readers.
