THE ADAPTABILITY OF MUSLIM PEASANTS IN EASTERN BANGKOK

The purposes of this research are: (1) Factors or conditions affecting the adjustment of Muslim peasants in Bangkok; (2) the process or mechanism of adaptation of Muslim peasants in Bangkok and; (3) guidelines for adaptation of Muslim peasants in Bangkok. The main area in Bangkok that use for research is the eastern outskirts of Bangkok. The research study by using qualitative research With in-depth interviews from the experts, including community leaders, Muslim peasant leaders, Top management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry of Commerce Ministry of industry and, the Office of Agricultural Economics And 20 academics involved and using group discussions with Muslim peasants in all 3 districts, consisting of Nong Chok District, Khlong Sam Wa District, and Min Buri District by join the process of developing a transformational approach for Muslim peasants communities in eastern Bangkok.
The results of the research found that the factors or conditions that affect the adjustment of Muslim peasants in eastern Bangkok consist of (1) the influence of the market under capitalism of technology in the Thailand 4.0 era; (2) The situation of class disintegration in the Muslim peasants community; (3) The role of the state and the mechanism relating to the transformation of Muslim peasants according to capitalism; ( 4) the need to maintain the traditional production methods, and (5) the principles of Islam that Muslim peasants hold.
The process or mechanism of adaptation of Muslim peasants in eastern Bangkok consist of : (1) Creating innovations in production in order to change the way of production into alternative agriculture; (2) Direction of the transformation of Muslim peasants communities to natural agriculture; (3) Adaptation under the way of life of Muslim peasants in change the production system; (4) Adjustment according to the current situation must be flexible in various careers; ( 5) Adjustment of lifestyle towards non-agriculture; ( 6) Creating and added the value for rice products and processing rice into various products; and (7) Reforming the production system.
The adaptation options of Muslim peasants in eastern Bangkok consist of: ( 1) Adaptation to efficient farming; ( 2) Adaptation to the development of high-quality rice; and (3) Development into the rice supply chain business. If applied, it must be considered appropriate for the purpose and the set target following the situation to be most effective now and in the future to make it possible for the benefit of the people, society and the nation.
