Dictionaries of German idioms – analyse and comparision

Abstract

This paper is concerned with two special dictionaries of German idioms - Duden and Görner. Besides evaluation, analysis and comparision are two main research methods used in this study. Each dictionary shows its own strengths and weaknesses and some sets of the same problem, too. Based on the research results, the study gives advice to German learners when they look up an idiom in Duden or Görner and as well as make suggestions for improving a german idioms dictionary.
