Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine and to compare the anxiety levels of volleyball athletes before competition between the final four teams and the eliminated teams in the Klaeng Burapha Games 2023. Data were collected from one final-four team and one eliminated team out of 13 teams, selected through a purposive sampling method. The research instrument used was the State Anxiety Inventory (Revised Edition), translated into Thai by Dr. Pichit Muangnapho. The statistical methods applied in this study included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and an independent t-test to analyze differences.

The research findings indicated that: (1) Analyzing the average scores by category revealed that the eliminated team had higher levels of physical and mental anxiety than the final-four team, while their self-confidence level was lower. (2) A comparison of physical anxiety, mental anxiety, and self-confidence before the competition between the final-four team and the eliminated team showed statistically significant differences at the .05 level.
