LEADERSHIP IN THE DIGITAL AGE OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS BASED ON TEACHER OPINIONS UNDER THE SAKON NAKHON SECONDARY EDUCATION SERVICE AREA OFFICE

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study 5 aspects of school administrators’ leadership in the digital era according to the opinions of the teachers under Sakon Nakhon Secondary Educational Service Area Office. Obtained through simple random sampling technique based on the number of teachers and sizes of the schools, the samples were 315 teachers. The tool used for data collection was a 5 point rating scale questionnaire with the validity of .67-1.00 (IOC) and .89 reliability. The statistics employed for data analysis were composed of frequency, percentage, standard deviation and content analysis. The study revealed these results. 1. The overall school administrators’ leadership in the digital era was at the high level. Of all aspects of their leadership, the visionary leadership gained the highest mean. The digital citizenship  and performing the profesional excellence had the second highest mean. However, the learning culture in the digital era got the lowest mean. 2. These guidelines for developing school administrators’ leadership in the digital era were obtained and they were arranged from the highest to the lowest frequencies: school administrators should develop their competencies of using digital technology; the policies of encouraging the teachers to normally employ their digital technology for instructional management and for performing the flexible and efficient work sytem; emphasis on monitoring the the digital technology’s importance and advantages should be pointed out to all teachers and personnel; teachers should be allowed to participate in communicating and functioning their jobs via appropriate and modern digital technology devices; administrators should be the role model of creating an awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of using the digital technology legally/ illegally and ethically/unethtically.
