Development of a model community to enhance sustainable tourism potential of Ban Koh Mon, Koh Phai community, Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, based on the BCG principle

This research aimed to: 1) explore approaches and develop sustainable tourism for the Ban Koh Mon, Koh Phai communities in Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province; 2) foster responsible citizenship under the sustainable tourism concept with the Ban Koh Mon, Koh Phai community in Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province as the foundation; and 3) enhance model community to promote sustainable tourism potential in Ban Koh Mon, Koh Phai, in Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province based on the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy principles. This study employed a mixed-methods approach combined with participatory action research. The research instruments included questionnaires, interviews, and data recording forms. The sample group consisted of 400 tourists visiting the study area, selected through convenience sampling, and 20 stakeholders involved in local tourism, selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed using statistical software, while qualitative data were examined through content analysis. The study results indicated that: 1) The appropriate approach for sustainable tourism development in the area was enhancing and adding value to adventure tourism activities tailored for female travelers, ensuring diversity and standardized quality. 2) The development of citizenship under the community-based sustainable tourism concept involved encouraging community participation through the establishment of a tourism development committee and fostering essential tourism-related skills within the community. 3) The development of a model community to enhance sustainable tourism potential in Ban Koh Mon, Koh Phai, Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, based on the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) Economy Model. This included raising awareness of tourism resource conservation among both tourists and the local community, increasing the value of local products, ensuring fair income distribution across all sectors, and implementing appropriate land-use planning to promote sustainable development.
