Abstract

The purposes of this research were to examine the level of student affairs administration and to propose development guidelines for schools in the Phraphutthabat Buabok Interdisciplinary Group under the Udon Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office. The sample consisted of 348 participants, including school administrators and homeroom teachers from seven schools under Udon Thani Secondary Education Service Area Office. The research instrument was a five point rating scale questionnaire with an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) ranging from .67 to 1.00 and a reliability coefficient of .90. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that: 1) overall, student affairs administration in schools of the Phraphutthabat Buabok Interdisciplinary Group was at a high level. Considering each aspect individually, student affairs management achieved the highest mean score, followed by the implementation of the student support and care system, and the promotion of democracy in schools, whereas the evaluation of student affairs operations received the lowest mean score. 2) The proposed guidelines for developing student affairs administration suggest that school should: study operational problems and guidelines to formulate work manuals strategic student affairs plans; enhance continuous coordination with relevant external organizations; support and encourage students who exhibit exemplary behavior to foster their self-esteem and pride; systematically collect, verify, and regularly update individual student data for the student support and care system; encourage all teachers to consistently integrate democratic principles into classroom and extracurricular instruction across all subject areas; regularly report operational outcomes to school administrators, and publicize student activity evaluation results to the general public.
