This research aimed to (1) analyze the strategic management of event organization for the Maha Songkran Festival in Khon Kaen and (2) propose guidelines to enhance event organization in alignment with MICE city development. A qualitative research approach was employed, collecting data through in-depth interviews with six key informants and documentary analysis. Data were analyzed using content analysis in conjunction with strategic management tools, including Value Chain Analysis, PEST/STEP Analysis, Five Forces Analysis, EFAS, IFAS, SWOT Analysis, TOWS Matrix, Strategic Factor Analysis Summary (SFAS), and benchmarking. The findings revealed that the Maha Songkran Festival in Khon Kaen is managed under an integrated strategic management framework. Key strengths: The festival is classified in the “Star” category of the BCG matrix, which reflects its strong cultural identity, its role as a regional economic hub, and nationally recognized events such as Khao Niew Road Songkran. However, limitations were identified in infrastructure capacity, urban congestion, and human resource skills, particularly in languages and digital competencies. Strategic analysis: The festival is classified in the “Star” category of the BCG matrix, indicating that it has high growth potential and a strong market share. The strategic analysis places the festival in the "Star" category of the BCG Matrix, indicating its high growth potential and strong market share. The festival is classified in the “Star” category of the BCG matrix, reflecting its high growth potential and strong market share. The study suggests strategies to make the event more in line with the growth of MICE cities. These strategies include smart and digital event development, building up the skills of the people who work at the event, promoting the event internationally, and improving infrastructure. These strategies should be implemented through multi-level strategic integration at corporate, business, and functional levels to strengthen competitiveness and support sustainable development toward becoming an international MICE destination.
