Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of debt problems on the mental well-being of the working-age population in Thailand. A quantitative research design was employed. The sample consisted of 400 working-age individuals residing in Thailand, selected via stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that debt related problems were significantly associated with and had an impact on the mental well-being of the working-age population. In particular, factors such as debt type, debt burden, and saving behavior were found to influence individuals’ stress levels and psychological stability. Furthermore, financial discipline, consistent saving practices, and appropriate choices of funding sources contributed to promoting mental well-being among working-age individuals. These results highlight the importance of personal financial management and can serve as a guideline for policy formulation and the development of appropriate financial services to effectively enhance the mental well-being of the working-age population in Thailand.
