A specialized hotel management model to enhance the performance of Thai professional football players using a user-centered design concept

This study aimed to investigate the needs of Thai professional football players regarding specialized hotel facilities, develop and synthesize a specialized hotel management model, and evaluate the model through expert validation. A research and development (R&D) approach combined with mixed-methods research was employed. The participants consisted of 254 Thai professional football players, 7 key informants, and 9 experts. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, content analysis, and Kendall’s coefficient of concordance (Kendall’s W). The findings revealed that Thai professional football players require a specialized hotel operating as a “performance-oriented service system,” comprising four key dimensions: recovery environment, performance nutrition, performance-enhancing facilities, and services and privacy. Based on these findings, the TH-PRO Performance Hotel Model was developed using a user-centered approach. The four dimensions function as input factors influencing athletic performance processes and competitive readiness. The expert evaluation indicated that the model achieved the highest level across all dimensions. These findings expand the hotel management knowledge to support athletic performance and provide practical guidelines for developing f specialized hotels and sports tourism in Thailand.
