Intergenerational synergy: business model innovation for silverpreneurs in the digital economy
Keywords:

The transition to a completely aged society has become a structural issue with broad impacts on Thailand's economy and society. A major challenge is the country entering an aged society before achieving sufficient economic security. This article therefore aims to study the phenomenon of "silverpreneurs" within the Thai context, using the Business Model Innovation (BMI) framework that aligns with the constraints and transitions of the retirement-age population. Senior entrepreneurial motivations iors can be examined throughin two lenses: necessity-driven and opportunity-driven entrepreneurship. To understand this phenomenon, this article proposes an integrated framework linking the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and business model innovation. It emphasizes the creation of "intergenerational synergy" as a key mechanism for leveraging the intellectual capital and social networks of retirees. The findings suggest that viable business models for seniors should not focus solely on market agility, but must prioritize trust as a core principle. Furthermore, policy recommendations are proposed to enhance digital literacy and brocade access to capital, transforming the role of seniors from a dependent population into a sustainable new economic force.
