Abstract

This academic article aims to examine and synthesize knowledge concerning factors influencing the travel intentions of working-age adults. This is accomplished by reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant domestic and international research on travel behavior, travel motivation, and the influence of social media on travel decisions. The study found that the key factors associated with working adults’ travel intentions include intrinsic motivation and the perception of TikTok media. Intrinsic motivation serves as a fundamental driving force arising from individuals’ needs, interests, and personal satisfaction, thereby playing a significant role in shaping travel intentions and l decision-making. Meanwhile, the perception of TikTok content involves both cognitive and emotional processing. The platform’s distinctive features, including short-form video content, entertainment, and the presentation of travel experiences, can enhance users’ cognitive responses, attitudes, and behavioral intentions. Together, these two factors influence the travel intentions of working adults. Thus, working adults’ travel intentions are not shaped solely by media influence; rather, they result from the systematic interplay between individuals’ intrinsic motivation and their perception of TikTok content.
