Jounal Profile / Journal Background

Journal Development (Phase 1): Establishment of the Journal

In 2021, the Journal of Management Science, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University (JMSSNRU) (ISSN: 2774-0390, online) was established with the vision of serving as a platform for disseminating high-quality research and academic articles, as well as fostering academic networks in various fields within the social sciences. The journal was founded with the support of Assistant Professor Chakrit Chanchitprecha, President of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Samart Aiyakorn, Dean of the Faculty of Management Science, who appointed Associate Professor Dr. Sanyasorn Sawatthaisong as Editor, together with a specialized editorial team.

The journal has continuously improved its quality and was indexed in the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI), Tier 2, in 2023 (within three years), marking a significant milestone reflecting national-level recognition. JMSSNRU accepts research and academic articles in both Thai and English within the social sciences. The journal employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process through the ThaiJO platform. Each manuscript is evaluated by three experts from various institutions, with an average review period of approximately one month. The journal publishes four issues annually, each containing carefully reviewed academic contributions aimed at advancing toward higher national standards.

The journal’s scope covers research and academic articles (in Thai and English) in social sciences, including business administration, management, accounting, marketing, human resource management, communication arts, economics, finance and banking, business computer, applied psychology, public administration, political science, law, development administration, and education. All submissions undergo a strict double-blind review process via ThaiJO, with three reviewers per manuscript from diverse institutions.

Since 2024, following its inclusion in the TCI database in 2023, the editorial board resolved to increase the number of issues from three to four per year: Issue 1 (January–March), Issue 2 (April–June), Issue 3 (July–September), and Issue 4 (October–December). This adjustment aims to accelerate the publication process for submitted manuscripts.

Journal Development (Phase 2): Enhancing the Quality and Flexibility of the Peer Review Process (2025–2026)

In Phase 2, the journal entered a stage of “systematic quality enhancement,” focusing on improving the peer review process in alignment with national criteria and widely accepted academic practices.

A key milestone in this phase was the announcement on January 21, 2026, regarding the adjustment of the number of reviewers per manuscript. The requirement was revised from three reviewers per article to “not fewer than two reviewers.” This change does not compromise quality; rather, it reflects “contextual appropriateness” in accordance with the regulations of the Civil Service Commission in Higher Education Institutions (OCSCHE), No. 3 (2025), which emphasize reviewer expertise, disciplinary relevance, and rigor of the evaluation process over sheer quantity.

Journal Development (Phase 3): Refining the Journal Scope and Strategic Positioning

In Phase 3, the journal advanced toward strategic development by expanding its scope and strengthening its academic role in alignment with the specialized focus of the Faculty of Management Science, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. This led to the establishment of an additional academic journal titled Modern Public Administrative Science, aimed at accommodating scholarly work specifically in public administration and public sector management.

This development reflects a clearer positioning strategy by dividing the roles of the journals into two distinct domains: JMSSNRU focuses on management and private sector business knowledge, while Modern Public Administrative Science concentrates on public sector studies, public policy, and governance. The two journals are clearly differentiated, non-overlapping, and effectively serve distinct target audiences. (https://so17.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jppi/home)

Modern Public Administrative Science is designed as an academic platform that bridges theoretical knowledge and practical application. It promotes articles that present applicable research for improving Thailand’s public sector, comparative analyses with international best practices, concrete recommendations for public sector reform, and the development of competencies among public sector personnel.

Furthermore, the journal welcomes contributions from both academics and practitioners to foster knowledge exchange between theory and practice, ultimately contributing to sustainable development in Thailand’s public administration system.

Meanwhile, JMSSNRU continues to evolve by broadening its scope to encompass diverse and contemporary areas in business and management, such as business management, marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, information technology, tourism, logistics, and community enterprise management. This ensures responsiveness to changing economic and social contexts.

Through these developments, both journals play a proactive role as high-quality, specialized academic platforms and serve as key mechanisms for advancing scholarly knowledge in both the private and public sectors, contributing to sustainable national development in the long term.
