About the Journal

History of the journal
  • Mae Fah Luang University Law Journal has a period of operation divided into two periods. The first period published articles from 2009 until 2011, totaling 3 issues (1 issue per year). The second period has been publishing articles from 2018 until the present.
 
The purpose of the journal
  1. To strengthen academics for the School of Law, Mae Fah Luang University
  2. To encourage individuals inside and outside the School of Law, Mae Fah Luang University to publish the articles to the public
  3. To be used as a document for research and reference
  4. To develop knowledge in the field of law in Thailand
 
Policy and content scope of published articles
  • The journal has the policy to publish high-quality articles in all fields of law such as private law, business law, criminal law, public law, social law, economic law, comparative law, international law, and legal philosophy. The target groups are faculty members, students, researchers, and academics both inside and outside Mae Fah Luang University.
 
Types of articles published
  • Journals publish various types of articles as follows: research articles, academic articles, analysis of judicial decision, analysis of legal opinion, analysis of law exams, law pakinaka, law book recommendation, and storytelling from lawyers. Each type of article has the following meanings:
  1. Research article refers to an article that is based on a research paper. (Research project or Master and Doctoral thesis) to present the findings systematically.
  2. Academic article refers to an article presenting an analysis or criticism of law, both theoretical and practical, which will benefit the body of knowledge or its further application.
  3. Analysis of judicial decision refers to an article that presents an analysis or criticism of court judgments such as the decision of the Court of Justice and the decision of the Constitutional Court.
  4. Analysis of legal opinion refers to an article that presents an analysis or criticism of the legal opinion of organizations or individuals, such as the legislative opinion of the Council of State and the legal opinions of the Administrative Practices Committee.
  5. Analysis of legal exams refers to articles that present an analysis or criticism of legal exams in various examination fields, such as qualifying examinations for inclusion of judicial officials in the position of assistant judges and qualifying examinations for inclusion of a public prosecutor in the position of assistant public prosecutor.
  6. Legal miscellaneous refers to an article that presents anecdotes that are interesting legal issues.
  7. Law book recommendation refers to an article that introduces an interesting law book.
  8. Storytelling from a lawyer refers to an article that tells a story about law from the experience of the author who is a lawyer. (Lawyer means a person who has at least a bachelor's degree in law program.)
 
Article submission period
  • The journal accepts article submissions year-round. The opening and closing of submissions for each issue are determined by the editorial board’s announcement, depending on the number of articles that can be published in that issue
 
Characteristics of quality assessment
  • All types of articles will be assessed for quality by a peer reviewer who has knowledge and expertise in accordance with the content of that article. For “research article” and “academic article”, there will be 3 reviewers per article. Whereas there will be 2 reviewers per article for other types of articles. It should be noted that this is a double-blinded review. That is, the reviewers do not know the names of the authors, and the authors do not know who reviewed their articles.
  • In the case of any article written by a person within Mae Fah Luang University whether the author is in the status of a full-time lecturer, senior lecturer, staff member, or student, the reviewers assessing the quality of such articles shall be from outside Mae Fah Luang University. However, this does not include the case where an article has two or more authors and one or more authors are members of Mae Fah Luang University.

Quality of the journal
 
Author's fees and remuneration
  • The journal does not impose fees on authors for any processes and does not provide remuneration to authors.
 
Remuneration for reviewers
  • The journal has a policy to provide remuneration to experts who review articles in the amount of 2,000 baht (two thousand baht) per person, regardless of whether the final results of articles assessing quality will be published or not.
