Abstract

It is very important to find or define the legal status of insurgent groups in the southern border of Thailand especially the group call “BRN”. Because of the finding, we can classify BRN as a terrorist or liberation group. Result from that process can affect state policy to solve the problem in border province, which can make a clear and correct point of view to the problem. This article tries to define the legal status of BRN by documentary research from related material. As a result, from the study, we can define BRN as a terrorist under the eye of international society. However, at some point of view, BRN can be classified as a liberation by the result of history and other information.
