Main Article Content
Abstract
The 21st century changes are inevitable. Accordingly, driving organizational change has become essential, requiring executives to integrate leadership with innovation—referred to as innovative leadership. Innovative leadership is critical for enabling organizational transformation, fostering organizational innovation, and progressing toward an innovative organization in the future. This article aims to present: (1) the characteristics of innovative leadership; (2) the roles and responsibilities of innovative leaders; (3) success factors of innovative organizations; and (4) practical guidelines for developing innovative leadership. Innovative leaders who possess these characteristics are able to perform their roles effectively and contribute to successful organizational management through a management innovation process across four dimensions: (1) strategic orientation; (2) innovation production processes; (3) organizational contextual support; and (4) effective external linkages. Collectively, these dimensions facilitate the emergence of organizational innovation. Therefore, developing innovative leadership influences organizational change, supports the creation of innovative organizations, and leads to the success of innovative organizations. As a result, it is necessary for organizations to develop leaders who demonstrate the attributes of innovative leadership.
