Moblie Applcation Platform for Tour Guide Recommendation

Abstract

This research aims to develop a mobile application platform for select tour guides. The study follows the principles of the software development life cycle, consisting of six phases. The results reveal the tourists’ problem is in selecting tour guides. A feasibility study was conducted in terms of technical, operational, and legal aspects. Tourists require a system to find their preferred tour guides who are legally certified. The development of the mobile application platform utilized the Dart programming language under the Flutter framework including registration and identity verification to validate the qualifications and status of tour guides. The decision-making process for selecting tour guides employed a Collaborative Filtering method using three datasets 1. Tourist data 2. Tourist satisfaction ratings of tour guides and 3. Tour guide data. The model processing used a Loss Function with the Weighted Approximate-Rank Pairwise (WARP) method. The result shows a high score of satisfaction with tourist guides (Known Likes) and Recommended tour guides with similarity score (Recommended Items) with an accuracy value of 72.22 percent. The platform's performance was evaluated from 40 tourists, demonstrating its efficiency in recommending tour guides. User satisfaction regarding the platform's performance and design received average scores of 4.34 and 4.36, respectively. For future studies, validating and confirming the status of tour guides through the Department of Tourism will be explored to enhance tourists' decision-making in selecting tour guides, ensuring the highest satisfaction.
