Abstract

This research aimed to (1) examine theoretical concepts and frameworks related to the promotion of workplace communication among employees of NPC Safety and Environmental Services Co., Ltd., (2) explore the principles of Bahusutta in Buddhism and their relevance to organizational communication, and (3) apply these principles to enhance internal communication practices among the company's employees. The study employed a qualitative research methodology, utilizing in-depth interviews with three key groups: four Buddhist scholars, four executives, and four employees of the company, totaling twelve participants. Data were analyzed through content analysis.


The findings revealed that (1) promoting effective communication in the workplace requires an integration of concepts from information management, communication theory, and knowledge transfer, all of which emphasize the importance of mutual understanding, appropriate technological use, and the clarity of roles and responsibilities in organizational operations. (2) The Bahusutta principle comprising Bahussutā (extensive listening and learning), Dhātā (retention), Vacasā Paricitā (verbal fluency), Manasānupekkhitā (mindful reflection), and Diṭṭhiyā Supaṭividdhā (penetrative insight) was found to be applicable in developing communication competencies among employees, fostering analytical thinking, information clarity, and skillful expression. (3) The application of Bahusutta to workplace communication was categorized into four dimensions: Sender encouraging employees to acquire diverse knowledge and communication skills; Message emphasizing the effective management and analysis of information; Channel promoting the use of appropriate modern communication technologies; and Receiver enhancing the ability of employees to accurately comprehend and apply information in task execution. The research underscores that Bahusutta serves as a potent principle for strengthening organizational communication. Its practical application can enhance employee performance, improve knowledge management processes, and contribute to sustainable organizational development.
