The influence of school administrator characteristics on school effectiveness as perceived by teachers in private vocational educationin the southern region, Nakhon Si Thammarat

This research aimed to: 1) study the characteristics of school administrators according to teachers perceptions; 2) study the school effectiveness by teachers perceptions; 3) study the relationship between school administrator characteristics and their influence on school effectiveness as perceived by teachers; and 4) study the predict variables of school administrator characteristics in determining school effectiveness based on the perception of teachers s in private vocational education institute in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern Thailand. The sample consisted of 182 teachers working in private vocational education institutions in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern Thailand. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Statistics used in the analysis included percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation efficient and simple regression analysis. The results of the research found that 1) characteristics of school administrators as perceived by teachers in private vocational education institutes in Nakhon Si Thammarat, southern region, were found to be at a high level overall. 2) the school effectiveness, as perceived by teachers in private vocational education institutes in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern region, was overall rated at high level. The dimension of ability to adapt and develop the school and the ability to solve internal school problems yielded the highest mean scores. Conversely, the ability to produce students with high academic achievement received the lowest average. 3) The analysis of the relationship between the school administrator characteristics and school effectiveness, as perceived by teachers in private vocational education institutions in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern region, found that a positive correlation was found across all dimensions, indicating a consistent, directional relationship between school administrator characteristics and school effectiveness. The Pearson correlation coefficient was high, at .720 and statistically significant at .001 level. 4) Predictive variables of school administrator characteristics that influenced school effectiveness, as perceived by teachers in private vocational education institutes in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern region, were examined it was found that vision, academic affairs, and morality and ethics collectively predict school effectiveness.
