Emotional Intelligence of School Administrator and Teamwork of Teacher in School Under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to determine 1) emotional intelligence of school administrator under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office 2) teamwork of teacher in school under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office and 3) the relationship between emotional intelligence of school administrator and teamwork of teacher in school under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office. The sample were 59 schools under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office. The 2 respondents from each school were; a school administrator and a teacher. There were 118 respondents. The research instrument was an opinionnaire about emotional intelligence of school administrator based on Goleman’s concept, and teamwork of teacher in school based on Yukl's and Gardner’s concept. The statistical analysis were frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient.


          The findings of this were as follows:


          1) The emotional intelligence of school administrator under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office as a whole was at a highest level. When considered in each aspect there were ranking from the highest to the lowest arithmetic mean: self-regulation, self-awareness, self-motivation, social skills and empathy.


          2) The teamwork of teacher in school under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office as a whole was at a high level. When considered in each aspect they ranked from the highest to the lowest arithmetic mean: member skills and role clarity, mutual trust, cohesiveness and cooperation, commitment to task objectives and strategies, accurate, shared mental models, member diversity, collective efficacy and potency, resources and political support, external coordination and Internal organization and coordination.


          3) The relationship between emotional intelligence of school administrator and teamwork of teacher in school under Samutsongkhram Primary Educational Service Area Office was found positive relation at .01 level of statistical significance.
