THE EFFECTS OF USING SHADOWING TECHNIQUES WITH SITCOM DRAMA FOR ENHANCING LISTENING SKILLS FOR FIFTH GRADERS

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study and evaluate the effects of using shadowing techniques with sitcom drama to Enhance English listening skills and 2) investigate student satisfaction with learning activities using shadowing techniques with sitcom drama to develop English listening skills. The study's sample consists of 36 fifth grader students from a school in Kanchanaburi who were enrolled in the Basic English course during the first semester of the 2024 academic year. The research tools used include 1) 4 lesson plans that incorporate shadowing techniques with sitcom drama for developing English listening skills 2) a test assessing the effectiveness of the shadowing techniques with sitcom drama for developing English listening skills and 3) a questionnaire measuring students' satisfaction with using the shadowing techniques with sitcom drama for developing English listening skills.


The findings revealed that 1) the English listening skills of fifth-grade students after the lessons were significantly higher than before, with a statistical significance level of .05, and 2) the level of satisfaction among fifth-grade students regarding the use of the shadowing techniques with sitcom drama for developing English listening skills to enhance their English listening skills was rated as high.
