Research Ethics Requirements

Articles submitted to the journal that include any research involving human or animal subjects must receive approval from an Ethics Committee for Human Research from an institution certified by the National Research Council of Thailand's Office for Human Research Standards. Such research must comply with international laws regarding human experimentation.

For animal experiments, approval must be obtained from the Ethics Committee for the Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes and must comply with the Animals for Scientific Purposes Act B.E. 2558 (2015) if applicable.

Authors must submit the approval letters as PDF files along with their manuscript submission for consideration. Articles on topics not related to human or animal research according to the above criteria, such as articles on political philosophy or statistical analysis, will be exempt from these approval requirements.
These criteria will be effective from January 1, 2024 onwards.

Roles and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Social Sciences must not have been previously published elsewhere or be under consideration for publication in any other journal or academic publication.
  • Translated works or compilations from foreign languages must include written permission from the copyright owner.
  • Authors must prepare manuscripts according to the format specified in the "Author Guidelines."
  • If a manuscript references the work of others through quotation, paraphrase, or summary, proper citation must be included both in-text and in the reference list at the end, following the format specified in the Author Guidelines. This allows readers to verify or seek additional information from the original sources.
  • All authors listed on the manuscript must have made a significant contribution to the research or have actual responsibility for the manuscript.

Roles and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors and the editorial board must evaluate manuscripts based on academic fairness, considering the importance of content, originality, clarity, and alignment with the journal's objectives, without bias regarding race, religious beliefs, gender, political views, or institutional affiliation.
  • Editors or editorial board members must not use any part of the manuscript information for personal benefit without written consent from the authors.
  • Editors must ensure manuscripts undergo review by at least two qualified reviewers (peer review process).
  • Editors and the editorial board must not disclose details of the manuscript, such as authors' or reviewers' names, to anyone except the primary responsible person and the manuscript reviewers.

Roles and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts impartially and without bias, as their assessment is crucial for the editor's decision to accept or reject manuscripts and provides guidance for authors in revising their work.
  • Reviewers, including those who decline to review, must keep manuscript information confidential and refrain from criticism, debate, or expressing opinions before the manuscript is published.
  • If reviewers believe they are unsuitable to evaluate a manuscript, they must immediately inform the editor or editorial board so alternative reviewers can be assigned.
  • Reviewers must not use any part of the manuscript information they are reviewing for personal benefit without written consent from the authors or approval from the editor.
