Abstract

This research aims to: 1) examine the current issues in waste management in Northern Bangkok districts, 2) explore the application of modern organizational management approaches to improve waste management efficiency, and 3) propose practical guidelines for enhancing waste management through modern organizational practices. This study employed a qualitative research methodology, with data collected from 30 participants, including community committee members, waste management officers, and local residents in the Northern Bangkok area. The research instrument was an in-depth interview, and data were analyzed using content analysis.

The findings revealed that waste separation practices in the target area remain informal and depend largely on voluntary participation, resulting in ineffective segregation. Recyclable materials are often mixed with general waste, and waste disposal frequently occurs at incorrect locations and times. To address these issues, the study suggests the integration of modern organizational management through the use of innovative technologies such as automated waste separation systems, smart waste management using sensors and mobile applications to monitor bin capacity, and data analysis for effective planning. Furthermore, community engagement is vital, including public education, training on recycling practices, motivational strategies such as rewards, and collaborations with local organizations and recycling businesses. Additional recommendations include structured waste management planning based on waste categories (recyclable, organic, hazardous), sustainable resource use, promotion of recyclable products, reduction of single-use materials, and cultivation of a recycling culture within the community. Policy suggestions focus on raising awareness, fostering environmental responsibility, encouraging public participation in waste management, building partnerships with stakeholders, and establishing channels for public feedback. These approaches collectively aim to significantly improve waste management efficiency and promote sustainable urban living in Northern Bangkok.
