บทคัดย่อ

เกษตรกรถูกระบุว่าเป็นกลุ่มอาชีพที่ประสบปัญหาความยากจนมากที่สุดในประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะครัวเรือนในชนบทซึ่งมีรายได้น้อย บทความนี้วิเคราะห์การเลื่อนชั้นของเกษตรกรในสังคมชนบทผ่านกรณีศึกษาครัวเรือนเกษตรกร โดยการถกเถียงกับแนวคิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมภาคเกษตรที่ส่งผลต่อการเลื่อนชั้นทางสังคมและความยากจนข้ามรุ่น พบว่าครัวเรือนยากจนมีความพยายามในการยกระดับฐานะทางสังคมให้มีความเป็นอยู่ที่ดีขึ้น ทว่าแต่ละครัวเรือนก็มีข้อจำกัดและเงื่อนไขในการเลื่อนชั้นทางสังคมที่แตกต่างกันท่ามกลางการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมภาคเกษตรที่โอกาส ทรัพยากร และเงินทุน รวมถึงช่องทางการศึกษาของบุตรหลานเป็นเงื่อนไขในการตัดสินใจด้านการพัฒนาครัวเรือน นอกจากปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลแล้ว ปัจจัยเชิงโครงสร้างมีความสำคัญต่อการวิเคราะห์ผลกระทบต่อความยากจนของเกษตรกร และปัญหาด้านการผลิตซ้ำนโยบายที่ส่งผลให้เกิดความยากจนมักจะไม่ได้รับความสนใจในการเป็นข้อถกเถียงในเชิงนโยบาย
