Creative Culture of Right Brain Organization for Creating World Class Great Innovation: A Case Study of Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand

The creative culture of “right-brain organization”, which utilizes the potentials of the right brain to generate imagination lies at the heart of the creation of world-class organizational innovation such as in the case of Sagrada Familia Cathedral. This article aims to (1) study the nature of organizational culture management at Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, whether it uses the creative culture of right-brain organization to create organizational innovation or not and if so, how (2) study supportive measures of the application of such methods to public organizations. The study integrates various fields of study and employs both quantitative and qualitative methods. The research instruments are questionnaires, semi-structured, and in-depth interviews administered to 3 sample groups: of craftsmen and workers at the temple, experts in various fields, and members of the public. The findings are: (1) organizational culture management at Wat Rong Khun relied on the creative culture of right-brain organization in every dimension. The survey results show that the sample groups perceived the creative culture, the characteristics of right brain organization, and creative innovation at Wat Rong Khun to the highest level, this being consistent with the interview results and the theories proposed in the conceptual framework, (2) measures recommended for promoting and applying management by the creative culture guidelines of right-brain organization in order to create innovation of public organizations include promotion of “proactive culture” and “professional culture”, and eliminating “the culture of fear” and “imitation culture”.
