Chulalongkorn University
Journal of Social Science (CU J. Soc. Sci.)

The Chulalongkorn University Journal of Social Science (CU J. Soc. Sci.) is an academic journal of the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University. The journal considers three types of submissions for publication: (1) Research articles, (2) Academic articles, and (3) Book reviews. All manuscripts submitted for publication must not have been previously published elsewhere. The journal is published biannually (in June and December). All articles will be evaluated by at least three qualified reviewers according to the process determined by the editorial board.

Focus and Scope

The Chulalongkorn University Journal of Social Science  aims to publish articles related to (1) Research articles, (2) Academic articles, and (3) Book reviews. The target audience includes faculty members, students, researchers, and those interested in the following areas:

  • Politics and Government
  • International Relations
  • Sociology and Anthropology
  • Criminology and Administration of Justice
  • Public Administration
  • Development

Peer Review Process

Research articles, academic articles, and book reviews will be evaluated by qualified reviewers in the relevant fields (Peer-Reviewed Process). The journal employs a double-blinded peer-reviewed process, where the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed, with at least three qualified reviewers per submission.

The journal provides immediate open access to its content following the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, in accordance with the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.

Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may archive the final published version, preprints, or postprints of their articles in institutional repositories or on their personal websites, provided that they acknowledge the original publication in the Chulalongkorn University Journal of Social Science with a complete citation and a link to the journal's website.

Article Processing Charge

Authors must pay a publication fee (for Thai/English articles) of 4,500 THB (Four thousand five hundred baht) per article. The journal will not refund the article submission fee under any circumstances.

Payment Conditions

The journal will collect the publication fee from authors after the manuscript has been approved by the editorial board to proceed to the review stage. The Assistant Executive Editor (Ms. Anong Kanjanaprapakul) will notify authors to make the payment.

Authors should provide their address for receipt issuance and delivery. Receipts can be delivered either by postal mail or as a PDF file via email, according to the author’s preference.

Publication Ethics

Articles submitted to the journal that include research involving humans or animals must be approved by an Ethics Committee for Human Research from an institution certified by the National Research Council of Thailand's Office for Human Research Standards, and must comply with international laws. For animal experimentation, approval from the Ethics Committee for the Use of Animals for Scientific Work is required, in accordance with the Animals for Scientific Purposes Act B.E. 2558 (2015). Authors can upload the approval document as a PDF file along with their manuscript submission for consideration. However, articles that do not involve human or animal research as per the above criteria, such as articles on political philosophy or statistical analysis, are exempt from this approval requirement.
