จุดมุ่งหมายหลักของการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณครั้งนี้ คือ การศึกษาความสัมพันธ์เชิงเหตุผลระหว่างพฤติกรรมการเปิดรับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมกับระดับการยินยอมให้ผู้อพยพเข้ามาในเอเชียตะวันออกของ พลเมืองที่อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่ดังกล่าว ผู้วิจัยเลือกใช้แหล่งข้อมูลทุติยภูมิจากฐานข้อมูลด้านวัฒนธรรมของคลังข้อมูลการสำรวจทางสังคมในเอเชียตะวันออก (EASSDA) ฐานข้อมูลดังกล่าวเกิดจากการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลของกลุ่มตัวอย่างในภูมิภาคดังกล่าวจำนวน 4 ประเทศ ได้แก่ จีน ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลีใต้ และไต้หวัน ซึ่งมีจำนวนตัวอย่างรวมทั้งหมด 9,029 ราย เมื่อพิจารณาถึงผลการวิเคราะห์สถิติเชิงพรรณนา กลุ่มตัวอย่างโดยส่วนใหญ่ยังไม่เปิดรับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมเท่าที่ควร และยินยอมระดับน้อยที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพเข้ามาในภูมิภาคของตน ในส่วนของผลการวิเคราะห์ สถิติเชิงอนุมานด้วยเทคนิคการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุด้วยแบบจำลองโพรบิต ผู้วิจัยพบว่า พฤติกรรมการเปิดรับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมเกือบทุกรูปแบบ (ยกเว้นการเปิดรับสื่อต่างประเทศ) ได้แก่ การพูดคุยเกี่ยวกับ ประเด็น/ปัญหาระหว่างประเทศกับผู้อื่น การเดินทางไปต่างประเทศ และการมีคนรู้จักเป็นชาวต่างชาติ ต่างเป็นปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อการยินยอมระดับมากที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพเข้ามาในภูมิภาคดังกล่าวอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ นอกจากนี้ ผลการวิเคราะห์แสดงให้เห็นว่า ระดับการศึกษาที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้นมีอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อการยินยอมระดับมากที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพในพื้นที่ของตน แต่ในทางตรงกันข้าม การยึดมั่นในความเป็นชาตินิยมเป็นอย่างมากเข้าข่ายเป็นอุปสรรคอย่างหนึ่งต่อการยินยอมระดับมากที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพเข้ามาในภูมิภาคดังกล่าวอย่างเห็นได้ชัด
