Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human Resource Management (HRM)Abstract
This article discusses the roles in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be used in human resource management. It examines the life cycle of AI in the process of human resource management, and the challenges in employing AI at each point of the life cycle and its use in the human resources management process. It argues that AI could help the human resource department in the processes of recruitment and screening applicants, interviewing, benefits administration, employee development and payroll administration, performance assessment and staff pay raise. Nevertheless, it also argues that there are some limitations. Importantly, skills which AI has not yet acquired or has acquired but not to the same level as humans have, for example, soft skills. In sum, although it could be accepted that, for some parts of the operations, AI should replace humans for reasons of convenience and speed, there are still some activities or aspects of work that AI cannot replace humans but is rather a tool to help humans work more efficiently and effectively.
